Kybella Available in Pittsburgh

Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment used to reduce moderate to severe fat beneath the chin, also known as submental fullness or a “double chin.” It contains synthetic deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance that breaks down and absorbs fat cells.

How does Kybella work?

When injected into the targeted area under the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells. Once these cells are eliminated, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, resulting in a more contoured and defined jawline.

What areas can Kybella treat?

Kybella is specifically approved for treating submental fat under the chin. It is not FDA-approved for use in other areas of the body.

How many treatments are needed?

Most patients require a series of 2–4 treatments spaced about a month apart, though some may need up to 6 sessions depending on the amount of fat and desired results.

Is the treatment painful?

You may feel a mild burning or stinging sensation during the injections. A topical numbing agent or ice is usually applied beforehand to minimize discomfort.

Is Kybella right for me?
Kybella may be right for you if:
  • You’re bothered (unhappy, self-conscious, embarrassed) by fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness
  • You feel the condition makes you look older or heavier than you actually are
  • You don’t want to have surgery
  • You eat well and exercise, but submental fullness does not go away

How is Kybella® administered?

Treatment can only be administered by a Kybella-trained healthcare specialist like Lamb Medical in McMurray, PA. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.

Are the results permanent?

Yes. Once fat cells are destroyed with Kybella, they do not return. However, maintaining a stable weight is important to preserve your results.

Is Kybella safe?

Kybella is generally well-tolerated, but some common side effects include swelling, bruising, and numbness at the injection site, which usually subside within a few days or weeks
