What is Sculptra?
Sculptra® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that stimulates your body’s natural collagen production to gradually restore facial volume and improve skin texture. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra works over time to rebuild the skin’s structural support from within.
How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that encourages collagen production. Once injected, it helps the skin naturally rebuild lost volume and elasticity, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance over several weeks to months.
What areas can be treated with Sculptra?
Sculptra is most commonly used to treat:
- Cheek hollows
- Temples
- Jawline
- Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
- Marionette lines
It can also improve overall facial contour and is sometimes used off-label for body areas like the buttocks or décolletage.
When will I see results?
Sculptra works gradually. While some initial volume may be noticeable right after treatment, results typically become visible within 4 to 6 weeks and continue to improve over several months as collagen builds.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients need a series of 2 to 3 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on your individual goals and the degree of volume loss.
How long do results last?
Results from Sculptra can last up to 2 years or longer, as the collagen produced by your body remains even after the PLLA is metabolized.
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites, which typically resolves within a few days. Most people return to normal activities immediately after treatment.
Is Sculptra safe?
Yes. Sculptra has been used safely worldwide for over a decade. As with any injectable treatment, it’s important to receive it from a licensed and experienced provider to minimize risks and ensure optimal results.
