Sculptra Body Available in Pittsburgh

Sculptra Body is a non-surgical injectable treatment that stimulates collagen production to improve skin texture, firmness, and volume in various areas of the body. It uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), the same biocompatible substance found in facial Sculptra treatments, to gradually restore lost volume and smooth out crepey or sagging skin.

How does it work?

Sculptra is injected into targeted areas beneath the skin. As it’s absorbed, it activates your body’s natural collagen production, resulting in firmer, plumper, and smoother skin over time. Unlike fillers that provide instant volume, Sculptra offers progressive, natural-looking results that improve with each session.

What areas can be treated with Sculptra Body?
  • Buttocks (for subtle lift or volume without surgery)
  • Thighs (to reduce crepiness or dimpling)
  • Arms (to firm loose or sagging skin)
  • Décolletage (to smooth fine lines and wrinkles)
  • Abdomen (for improved tone and texture)

Is the treatment painful?

Discomfort is minimal. Sculptra is typically mixed with lidocaine to numb the area, and a topical anesthetic may also be applied. Most patients tolerate the procedure well.

How long does the procedure take?

Treatments usually take 30–60 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection sites, which usually resolves within a few days.

When will I see results?

Sculptra works gradually. Most patients begin noticing visible improvements in 4–8 weeks, with continued enhancement as collagen builds. Full results typically appear after a series of treatments.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people require 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on treatment goals and the condition of the skin.

How long do the results last?

Results can last up to 2 years or more, making Sculptra Body a long-lasting option for non-surgical body contouring.

What is collagen?

Collagen is a strong, flexible fibrous type of protein that is found throughout our bodies, including our bones, muscles, tendons and in the middle or dermis layer of
the skin. It acts as skin’s support structure or scaffolding that helps maintain skin’s shape1. In fact, 70% of our skin is composed of collagen.

Why is collagen important?

As we age, our body’s collagen production decreases. The cells in our body that produce collagen, called fibroblasts, are no longer able to produce it as efficiently as they once did, and existing collagen becomes fragmented, bent and frayed. Gradually, skin loses its youthful bounce, leading to lines, wrinkles, and folds, as well as a loss of skin volume and support.

Are there any common side effects?

You may experience slight bruising, lumps, and/or temporary swelling from the injections. But in general, when done correctly, they are very safe, effective, and side effect free.
