Laser Hair Removal Frequently Asked Questions

How does this work?

Laser hair removal uses a light source that is attracted to and absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle.  This causes the hair follicle to become very hot very quickly. The heat destroys the follicle preventing future hair growth.

Unfortunately, when hair is white, blonde, or grey laser removal is typically not very effective due to the lack of pigment. Without pigment the follicle cannot heat to a temperature that stops regrowth.

How many sessions will this need?

Hair grows through multiple different phases. This is why your can shed hairs, from your head for example, and still have plenty of other hair. For this reason most people will need 4-6 sessions on each area for complete removal of hair. Sessions are spaced 4-8 weeks apart depending on the area being treated.

What areas can be treated?

Just about any area that grows hair can be treated assuming the hair is dark in color- eyebrows, upper lip, facial hair, bikini line, back, legs, arms, etc.

When will I notice results?

Not immediately. It will typically 1-2 weeks for there to be a noticeable difference after treatment. At times you may not notice a significant change in hair growth until after the second session.

How do I prepare for my upcoming appointment?

Please shave the day prior to your appointment. If there is too much hair growth present the treatment will not be effective. Please DO NOT pluck or wax. This will affect the follicle and make the treatment ineffective.
